Let’s be friends
with food waste

Live Zero · Left Zero

Lab0ver is a community food waste and environmental education group in Tuen Mun. With our neighbours in San Hui and Tseng Choi Street, we collect food scraps, ferment them with Bokashi, and send them to farms in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai as compost. We’re not here to make anyone afraid of food waste — we want you to get to know it, and get along with it.

Shop partners

Coffee grounds back to the soil

Since 2022 we’ve worked with coffee shops to take their grounds to farms in Kam Tin and Ngau Tam Mei. Our Tuen Mun partner shops get a thank-you card each month showing how many kilos we’ve saved together.

A fruit peel’s journey

3,001tonnes of food waste are thrown away in Hong Kong every day (EPD, 2024). We started on one street in Tuen Mun, finding it a better place to go.

Organised by the South China Morning Post and presented by Ocean Park Hong Kong. On 1 December 2023, Lab0ver received the award for collecting and recycling food waste in the community.
